Book Guide to Graphics Software Tools

Download or read book Guide to Graphics Software Tools written by Jim X. Chen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-08-23 with total page 527 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, many scientists in different disciplines realize the power of graphics, but are also bewildered by the numerous graphics tools. More often than not, they choose the improper software tools and end up with unsatisfactory results. This book introduces and categorizes the most commonly used graphics tools and their applications. The purpose is not to provide an exhausting list of tools and their explicit functions, but rather to provide scientific researchers with different means and application areas in computer graphics, so as to help them efficiently use visualization, modeling, simulation, and virtual reality to complement their research needs. This guide includes coverage of the most widely used commercial software, freeware and open-source software.

Book Globalization of Manufacturing in the Digital Communications Era of the 21st Century

Download or read book Globalization of Manufacturing in the Digital Communications Era of the 21st Century written by Gianni Jacucci and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1998-09-30 with total page 890 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International PROLAMAT Conference is an internationally well known event for demonstrating and evaluating activities and progress in the field of discrete manufacturing. Sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), the PROLAMAT is traditionally held every three years and it includes the whole area of advanced software technology for Design and Manufacturing in Discrete Manufacturing. Past editions of the International PROLAMA T Conference have explored: -Manufacturing Technology, -Advances in CAD/CAM, -Software for Discrete Manufacturing, -Software for Manufacturing. The Eight International PROLAMAT held in 1992 (Tokyo), focused on the theme of Man in CIM. The 1995 PROLAMAT (Berlin), featured the theme of Life Cycle Modelling for Innovative Products and Processes. This past emphasis on human aspects and innovation provides a strong foundation for the next PROLAMAT. Under the title: The globalization of manufacturing in the digital communications era of the 21th century: innovation, agility and the virtual enterprise, the 1998 conference expands the PROLAMAT scope to include teams and virtual enterprises which come together across space and time to develop new products and bring them to global markets. Manufacturing issues and information models have long been part of concurrent engineering; they are increasingly important in new product innovation and in the development of manufacturing plans and processes which span multiple companies along with multiple time zones.

Book X3D

    X3D

    Book Details:
  • Author : Don Brutzman
  • Publisher : Elsevier
  • Release : 2010-07-19
  • ISBN : 0080489885
  • Pages : 472 pages

Download or read book X3D written by Don Brutzman and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2010-07-19 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the early days of the Web a need was recognized for a language to display 3D objects through a browser. An HTML-like language, VRML, was proposed in 1994 and became the standard for describing interactive 3D objects and worlds on the Web. 3D Web courses were started, several best-selling books were published, and VRML continues to be used today. However VRML, because it was based on HTML, is a stodgy language that is not easy to incorporate with other applications and has been difficult to add features to. Meanwhile, applications for interactive 3D graphics have been exploding in areas such as medicine, science, industry, and entertainment. There is a strong need for a set of modern Web-based technologies, applied within a standard extensible framework, to enable a new generation of modeling & simulation applications to emerge, develop, and interoperate. X3D is the next generation open standard for 3D on the web. It is the result of several years of development by the Web 3D Consortium's X3D Task Group. Instead of a large monolithic specification (like VRML), which requires full adoption for compliance, X3D is a component-based architecture that can support applications ranging from a simple non-interactive animation to the latest streaming or rendering applications. X3D replaces VRML, but also provides compatibility with existing VRML content and browsers. Don Brutzman organized the first symposium on VRML and is playing a similar role with X3D; he is a founding member of the consortium. Len Daly is a professional member of the consortium and both Len and Don have been involved with the development of the standard from the start. The first book on the new way to present interactive 3D content over the Web, written by two of the designers of the standard Plentiful illustrations and screen shots in the full color text Companion website with extensive content, including the X3D specification, sample code and applications, content creation tools, and demos of compatible Web browsers

Book excerpt: Advances in Systems, Computing Sciences and Software Engineering This book includes the proceedings of the International Conference on Systems, Computing Sciences and Software Engineering (SCSS’05). The proceedings are a set of rigorously reviewed world-class manuscripts addressing and detailing state-of-the-art research projects in the areas of computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, systems sciences and engineering, information technology, parallel and distributed computing and web-based programming. SCSS’05 was part of the International Joint Conferences on Computer, Information, and Systems Sciences, and Engineering (CISSE’05) (www. cisse2005. org), the World’s first Engineering/Computing and Systems Research E-Conference. CISSE’05 was the first high-caliber Research Conference in the world to be completely conducted online in real-time via the internet. CISSE’05 received 255 research paper submissions and the final program included 140 accepted papers, from more than 45 countries. The concept and format of CISSE’05 were very exciting and ground-breaking. The PowerPoint presentations, final paper manuscripts and time schedule for live presentations over the web had been available for 3 weeks prior to the start of the conference for all registrants, so they could choose the presentations they want to attend and think about questions that they might want to ask. The live audio presentations were also recorded and were part of the permanent CISSE archive, which also included all power point presentations and papers. SCSS’05 provided a virtual forum for presentation and discussion of the state-of the-art research on Systems, Computing Sciences and Software Engineering.
