Book excerpt: 38 Colon Cancer Meal Recipes: Vitamin Packed Foods That the Body Needs To Fight Back Without Using Drugs or Pills By Joe Correa CSN The risk of colon cancer is attributed to several factors such as age older than 50, family history, inherited genetic syndromes, a sedentary lifestyle, diabetes, obesity, alcohol, smoking and a diet low in fiber and high in fat. To prevent the risk of colon cancer, consumption of red, processed meats, foods high in calories or sweets, refined grains like white bread and fried foods should be avoided. Certain cooking methods of meats may also increase the risk of cancer. Meats that are cooked in very high temperatures can form carcinogens. Diet that is rich in fiber mostly found in fruits, vegetables, cereals, including flour and bread is protective against bowel cancer. The calcium and vitamin D in dairy products lower the risk of bowel cancer and polyps. Foods that are high in antioxidants bolster the body's immune system against potentially dangerous substances called free radicals. Some examples of antioxidants naturally present in fruits and vegetables are carotene, beta-carotene and lutein. Studies show that folic acid is also preventive of colon cancer. Folic acid is responsible for forming new cells and tissues as well as keeping red blood cells healthy. A common example of vegetables rich in folic acid are the dark leafy greens, especially spinach. Citrus fruits also contain a high amount of folic acid.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In most cases, colon cancer starts as small, benign clumps of cells known as adenomatous polyps. These polyps usually don't produce any symptoms which is why colon cancer can hardly be discovered and treated on time. However, you have to keep in mind that most people don't experience any of these symptoms in the early stages of the disease. This is why a regular physical exam is very important if for some reason you suspect abnormalities. Another important step you have to take in order to prevent this terrible and extremely dangerous disease is definitely a dietary lifestyle change. This life-saving decision will permanently change the way you eat, and most importantly, a healthy diet will change the way your digestive tract handles food. This means that with just a couple of simple steps, your body will start to change and you will feel much better. You will have to change the way you eat and adopt some long-term diet habits. Only this will permanently clean your digestive tract and reduce the risk of colon cancer. But, I have to point out that in order to be 100% sure you're healthy, the diet, by itself, won't be enough. A healthy diet combined with regular exercise is the only way to successfully fight off this disease. This book is a valuable compilation of well-balanced recipes that will please everyone and give your body the optimal amount of nutrients it needs. They are based on real and healthy foods without any major restrictions you might be expecting. Changing your habits in order to improve your health and prevent colon cancer, will allow you to live a happier life.

Book 107 Colon Cancer Salad and Meal Recipes Improve Your Nutrition Naturally to Prevent and Fight Cancer Through Organic Superfoods

Download or read book 107 Colon Cancer Salad and Meal Recipes Improve Your Nutrition Naturally to Prevent and Fight Cancer Through Organic Superfoods written by Joe Correa Csn and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2019-03-14 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 107 Colon Cancer Salad and Meal Recipes: Improve Your Nutrition Naturally to Prevent and Fight Cancer through Organic SuperfoodsBy Joe Correa CSNWe still don't know what exactly causes colon cancer, but most doctors agree that a modern, Western diet high in fats and low in fibers increases the risk of this disease. These highly processed, unnatural, and unhealthy foods lead to chronic inflammatory diseases of the colon by affecting the microbes that live in it, which leads to cell degeneration. This is a good reason why you should focus more on eating healthy organic foods rather than jumping from one diet to another that often offer empty promises. Foods you have to include on a daily basis are: fresh fruits and vegetables, organic fish and poultry, nuts, seeds, and legumes. In order to clean your gastrointestinal tract and reduce the risk of colon cancer, your diet must be primarily based on beans, lentil, peas, and other foods that are high in folate. Along with valuable fiber, these foods are an enormous source of vitamin B that will protect your colon cells from damage. When left untreated, harmless adenomatous polyps transform into cancer which, just like all other types of cancers, can be a life-threatening condition. It is very important to identify colon cancer symptoms and prevent the disease from progressing. There are also certain risk factors that may contribute to developing colon cancer. These factors include older age, inflammatory intestinal conditions, family history of colon cancer, sedentary lifestyle, poor diet, obesity, smoking, and alcohol. Scientists agree that there is a strong connection between low-fiber, high-fat diet and colon cancer. Eating plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, and fiber-rich whole grain will give your body an array of vitamins and minerals and play an important role in cancer prevention. However, making these small changes in your every day life can be a bit difficult due to busy schedules. For this reason, I have collected these powerful yet easy to prepare colon cancer preventing recipes. You will easily find all the ingredients in your local store and easily prepare a wonderful and healthy salad for the entire family in just minutes. These recipes are here to make your life better so get started right away!

Book The Lahey Clinic Guide to Cooking Through Cancer 100 Recipes for Treatment and Recovery

Download or read book The Lahey Clinic Guide to Cooking Through Cancer 100 Recipes for Treatment and Recovery written by Lahey Clinic and published by The Countryman Press. This book was released on 2013-01-07 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From one of the nation’s leading cancer centers, a bright, flavorful cookbook to help patients and their caregivers. Just as it changes your physical condition and alters your mental outlook, cancer and its treatment will transform how you eat. Having a meal takes on new meaning and presents a new set of challenges. Dr. Keith Stuart, head of oncology at the world-renowned Lahey Clinic, along with Corrine Zarwan, MD, and the team at the Sophia Gordon Cancer Center understand well the difficulty their patients have in determining the kind of food they feel like eating and what will combat particular symptoms they may be experiencing. With recipes thoroughly tested by Dr. Stuart, Dr. Zarwan, and on-staff physicians, nurses, and nutritionists, Cooking Through Cancer is designed to address the most common symptoms of someone undergoing treatment—dry mouth, constipation, diarrhea, weight loss or excessive weight gain—and is organized and coded for easy identification of the right recipe for each need. Cooking Through Cancer is the first cookbook conceived of and produced by the team of a comprehensive cancer center that focuses on the nutritional needs of cancer patients. More than serving as a helpful reference guide for patients, this book is about finding enjoyment in something—good food—that cancer frequently ruins for people, and these meals are valuable tools for asserting control over that single, important aspect of your life and health.
