Book 2G revista internacional de arquitectura

Download or read book 2G revista internacional de arquitectura written by and published by Editorial Gustavo Gili, S.A.. This book was released on 2005 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: BKK-3 are the third formation of a collective that began in the 1980s under the name of BKK (literally Baukunst Kollektiv, the Art of Building Collective, which went on to call itself BKK-2), residing in Vienna and led by Johny Winter and Franz Sumnitsch. From a position of political activism, almost, the collective posits an architecture of participation with the user and with institutions. Heirs of the long Viennese tradition of housing co-operatives that goes back to the well-known Höffe of the 1920s, their work makes a special point of new forms of collective living by endowing housing groups with a set of services that reinforce the inhabitants’ sense of community. Along with the Viennese housing and services co-operative Sargfabrik and Miss Sargfabrik, which brought fame to BKK-2 and BKK-3 on the Austrian and later the international scene, the present issue of 2G also includes other works in the field of commercial space like the office buildings IP.ONE, IP.TWO and ICUB, and new projects touching upon the same issues of social housing and commercial space.

Book Max Bill arquitecto

Download or read book Max Bill arquitecto written by Max Bill and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DOUBLE ISSUE Despite being known the world over as an artist Max Bill always considered himself to be an architect. His visual work and his educational labours in charge of the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm have been widely studied and publicised, yet his facet as an architect has scarcely received attention. This publication brings together his complete architectural work for the first time, work ranging from his early projects as a Bauhaus student, taking in his first house in Zurich-Höngg and his many designs for exhibitions, to such mature works as the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Expo 64 in Lausanne or his own house in Zumikon, many of these unpublished for decades. The information is rounded off with the pavilion-sculptures Max Bill dedicated himself to for twenty years and which stand midway between sculpture and architecture. The number is introduced by critical texts from such important connoisseurs of his oeuvre as Stanislaus von Moos, Hans Frei, Karin Gimmi, Arthur Rüegg and Jakob Bill, Max Bill's son, along with unpublished archive material, extensive photo-reports commissioned for the occasion from the Swiss photographer Georg Aerni, and a selection of the author's most important theoretical writings.

Book Reconstructing Italy

Download or read book Reconstructing Italy written by Stephanie Zeier Pilat and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-08 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reconstructing Italy traces the postwar transformation of the Italian nation through an analysis of the Ina-Casa plan for working class housing, established in 1949 to address the employment and housing crises. Government sponsored housing programs undertaken after WWII have often been criticized as experiments that created more social problems than they solved. The neighborhoods of Ina-Casa stand out in contrast to their contemporaries both in terms of design and outcome. Unlike modernist high-rise housing projects of the period, Ina-Casa neighborhoods are picturesque and human-scaled and incorporate local construction materials and methods resulting in a rich aesthetic diversity. And unlike many other government forays into housing undertaken during this period, the Ina-Casa plan was, on the whole, successful: the neighborhoods are still lively and cohesive communities today. This book examines what made Ina-Casa a success among so many failed housing experiments, focusing on the tenuous balance struck between the legislation governing Ina-Casa, the architects who led the Ina-Casa administration, the theory of design that guided architects working on the plan, and an analysis of the results-the neighborhoods and homes constructed. Drawing on the writings of the architects, government documents, and including brief passages from works of neorealist literature and descriptions of neorealist films by Pier Paolo Pasolini, Italo Calvino and others, this book presents a portrait of the postwar struggle to define a post-Fascist Italy.

Book 2G 50 Sou Fujimoto International Architectural Review

Download or read book 2G 50 Sou Fujimoto International Architectural Review written by Sou Fujimoto and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sou Fujimoto belongs to a new generation of young Japanese architects whose work has aroused enormous interest at the international level. After winning numerous prizes in both Japan and the rest of the world, Fujimoto has become a major presence on the Japanese architectural scene. Unlike his contemporaries, Sou Fujimoto has not been trained through working in the office of any of the architects of wide experience and international renown-instead, after graduating from Tokyo University in 1994 he preferred to think about and test his personal ideas on architecture in small projects that have enabled him to develop a tremendously personal and distinctive architectural approach. His projects are the result of a sophisticated conceptual elaboration that subverts established models, one mainly based on two major concerns: what it means to dwell in a space in the 21st century and how that space is materialised without following any formal a priori. Accordingly, innovation in Fujimoto's work does not proceed from a wish to generate disruptive forms, but from understanding the relationships between people and spaces in a different way, from taking complexity on board as an essential ingredient in his thinking and in his work, or from valuing intermediary space and nature. Fujimoto manipulates these ideas, which reveal his preoccupation with the essence of dwelling, and transforms them into a new architecture of great spatial richness. This number of 2G brings together the most emblematic buildings and projects by Sou Fujimoto, outstanding among which are the Children's Centre for Psychiatric Rehabilitation (Hokkaido), the Final Wooden House (Kumamoto), the Primitive Future House 2008 (Basel), the Apartment building (Tokyo), House Before House (Tochigi), House H (Tokyo), and the Library for Musashino Art University, (Tokyo). The two introductions to the monograph, written by Toyo Ito and Julian Worrall, provide us with the basic keys for understanding the richness of the Japanese architect's projects.
