During the session of Thursday forenoon, this committee presented its report, which was received, considered item by item, adopted as a whole, and is as follows: Report Of Committee On Minutes Of Synod. To the Reverend Synod of the Potomac: Your committee, to whom was referred the printed Minutes of the Synod of last year for examination, after a careful inspection of them, begs leave to report the following items, as, in our judgment, claiming the attention of the present sessions of the Synod, namely: - Item 1, page 5. The Standing Committee on Ministerial Necrology is appointed, whose duty it will be to report to the present meeting of the Synod; of which committee Rev. C. Clever is Chairman. Item 2, page 20. The several Classes are recommended to raise, either by appointment or otherwise, increased contributions to carry on the work of beneficiary education. Item 3, page 20. The several Classes are recommended anew to request the different pastoral charges under their care to give to the Theological Seminary at Lancaster, Pa., one collection during the year. Item 4, page 21. The Trustees of Catawba College, conducted as a High and Normal School, are invited to make an annual report of said institution to the Board of Education of this Synod. Item 5, page 21. It will be necessary to nominate for election by the Synod of the Reformed Church in the United States, three members of the Board of Visitors, and six members of the Board of Trustees of the Theological Seminary at Lancaster, Pa. Item 6, page 22. It becomes the duty of the Synod to fill by election the vacancies, that will take place in the Board of Education, at the close of the present sessions of the Synod, by the expiration of the term of service of Revs. W. C. Cremer, S. S. Miller, and U. H. Heilman. Item 7, page 22. It will be necessary for the Synod to fill by election the vacancies, that are about to occur in the Board of Regents of Mercersburg College of the following members, whose term of office expires during the present month, namely. Revs. W. M. Deatrick, W. Goodrich, and W. I. Stewart. Item 8, page 40. Forty-six hundred and thirty dollars are apportioned for Home Missions among the several Classes constituting the Synod. Item 9, page 40. The Synod urgently requests those Classes, which have not yet paid the sums assumed by them for the Mission Chapel at Washington, D. C., to make no further delay in fulfilling their obligations in behalf of this important enterprise. Item 10, page 40. The members of the Synodic Board of Missions are ordered to make known to the Tri-Synodic Board of Missions, at the earliest opportunity, what has become known to the Synod, at its meeting at Newton, respecting the missionary field in North Carolina, and the need of vigorous missionary exertion in behalf of the same. Item 11, page 41. The cause of missions among the colored population of our country is commended to the careful consideration of the Board of Home Missions, with the request, that they give attention to this important subject, at their first regular meeting.
