Book excerpt: He went searching for a fresh start. He didn't expect to find unusual friends, fierce enemies, and primal powers. Jason thought that it was the end of his life after being attacked and hunted by a band of ruthless thugs. Instead, he tapped into the source of creation and emerged from his Death Experience with magical powers. Rescued by a mountain troll and a battle mage, he becomes part of an unlikely group of housemates, defending a mystical old mansion from those who want to destroy it. Joined by a cheerful granny, an incubus who is entirely too attractive, and a tiny fierce kitten, Jason finds a new sense of belonging and purpose. The band of misfits are on the losing side of the mage war until Jason discovers the rules of magic are not as set in stone as they appear to be. Jason has little power, but he discovers he can see magic and manipulate it at a microscopic level. What he detects begins his journey into discovering how his new powers really work, and just might be the edge they need to survive. If you like witty dialogue, diverse characters, magic that feels real, and intense action, then you will love this LGBTQ urban fantasy. If you like Harry Dresden or Iron Druid, or enjoy a thriller grounded in magic, then buy Misfit Mage today and step into a whole new enchanted world. Book Shannon Taggart S ance

Download or read book Shannon Taggart S ance written by and published by Fulgur Press. This book was released on 2019-10-22 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: American photographer Shannon Taggart (born 1977) became aware of spiritualism as a teenager when her cousin received a message from a medium that revealed details about her grandfather's death. In 2001, while working as a photojournalist, she began photographing where that message was received--Lily Dale, New York, home to the world's largest spiritualist community, proceeding to other communities in, for example, Arthur Findlay College in the UK. Taggart expected to spend one summer figuring out the tricks of the spiritualist trade. Instead, spiritualism's mysterious processes, earnest practitioners and neglected photographic history became an inspiration. Her project evolved into an 18-year journey that has taken her around the world in search of "ectoplasm"-- the elusive substance that is said to be both spiritual and material. With Séance, Taggart offers a series of haunting photographs exploring spiritualist practices in the US, England and Europe. Supported with a commentary on her experiences, a foreword by Dan Aykroyd, creator of Ghostbusters and fourth-generation spiritualist, and illustrated essays from Andreas Fischer and Tony Oursler, Séance examines spiritualism's relationship with human celebrity and its connections with technology, and concludes with the debate over ectoplasm and how spiritualism can move forward in the 21st century.

Download or read book The Cop That Cared written by Earl Taggart and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2015-06-24 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE COP THAT CARED: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is a collection of criminal cases, personal events and memories in short story form from Earl Taggart's career as an Indiana State Police officer and Sheriff. Earl Taggart was born and raised in New Castle, Indiana; after graduating from Chrysler High School Earl joined the Army in December of 1965 and was assigned to the army artillery. He was discharged in December of 1968 after obtaining the rank of sergeant E-5. Upon returning to Indiana, Earl worked a short time at Delco-Remy in Anderson and it was during this time that Earl applied to The Indiana State Police. Earl was accepted to the State Police Academy in February 1970 and was assigned to the Seymour District upon his graduation in April of 1970. After completing his probationary period he started his State Police career in Jennings County. During Earl's career with the State Police he worked as a road trooper, a narcotics detective, and finally a district detective. Earl successfully completed numerous specialized training courses during his tenure as well as teaching investigation classes in drug enforcement, criminal investigations, and hostage negotiations. Earl was a team leader for the State Hostage Negotiation Team and the State Police Crises Intervention Team. Earl retired from the Indiana State Police in December of 1998. In November of 1998 Earl was elected as Sherriff of Jennings County and served in office for 8 years. These short stories are a collaboration of different events that occurred during his law enforcement career; some humorous, some terrifying, and some unbelievably sad. -The youngest was 3 years old. She was just too young to give any details. I got to thinking about the tattoo on him. I went to the prosecutor for a search warrant to examine his body. It was several weeks before I could locate him. He came in with his attorney. -I noticed that the glass from the door was on top of the blood. So if someone broke in, the glass should be on the floor, and the blood on top of the glass. The scene was staged; she was already dead when the door was broken open. -I forgot to tell Bill of the curve, we hit it and slid! Bill grabbed the dash with both hands and held on for life (when I traded that car there were eight fingers pressed into the dash). Each story has you rolling through your emotions like you were there in living person, you wont want to put it down!
