Overall, the results of the update continue the broad trends observed in previous updates, but the shifts between the main country groups are generally smaller. Using the current quota formula, the calculated quota share of Emerging Market and Developing Countries (EMDCs) as a group increases by 0.6 percentage points relative to the 2015 update to 49.3 percent, which is about half the increase in the last update. The paper takes stock of recent discussions on the quota formula, including the outcome of the Quota Formula Review in 2013 and subsequent discussions in the context of the annual quota data updates. It also updates the illustrative simulations of possible reforms of the quota formula presented previously, using the latest data. These simulations have sought to capture possible reforms that would be broadly in line with the conclusions of the Quota Formula Review and Directors’ guidance is sought on the relative merits of these reforms and the most productive areas for future work. In terms of broad country groups, the results of the data update are broadly consistent with trends observed in previous updates. The aggregate share of Emerging Market and Developing Countries (EMDCs) increased by 0.3 pp, to 50.0 percent, following a small decline in the EMDCs’ share recorded in the 2018 data update. The rising EMDC share reflected again foremost an increase for Asia. Most advanced economies recorded a small decrease in their calculated quota share using the current quota formula.

Our brave new digital world has caused some discord for language activists – and if harsh text speakers do not feel good, woe ensues our new diet of round-shaped emojis. Our language and our relationship to language have developed to keep pace with cultural changes. Furthermore, since the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, society has been carrying out communication online through the internet and social. To , society has been accustomed to doing it that way. One of the challenges linguistics studies are facing is the implementation of appropriate language capacity. There are conditions for the use of inaccurate languages ​​according to standardized rules in communication through online media. To solve this, reciprocal interactions are also important for creating a pool of different perspectives among the smart human community. In total, digital technologies are also changing the ways we learn and teach, as well as the ways we compose and research. These changes are occurring throughout the academy, including the humanities — a set of disciplines less associated with technology. In an effort to vanquish the challenges trending in the linguistic study in order to depict the future perspectives on it established in the description above, fresh ideas from the younger generations are needed. For that purpose, the Graduate School of Linguistics, the Postgraduate Program University of Warmadewa in collaboration with other institutes presents an international academic discussion forum in the form of a conference. This event is themed “The 2nd Student Conference on Linguistics: Trends and Future Perspectives in Language study and Language Teaching”. Through the forum students from various parts of the world are expected to share bright and innovative ideas to discover solutions to the problems and challenges faced by linguistics today and in the coming future.

The European Gender Equality Index, however, now ranks Germany relatively high and shows substantial progress since 2005. While this has gone mostly unnoticed, Germany has passed far-reaching legislation in major policy fields relevant for gender equality. Investigating the effects of Merkel's tenure on gender equality, the chapters in this volume assess policy output and outcomes with a focus on internal power dynamics in Germany, as well as international and European Union (EU)-level pressures in the policy domains of political representation, LGBTI rights, migration, the labor market, and care. It examines how policy measures introduced by conservative governments affect gender norms and gender culture, and if they ultimately lead to effective implementation and greater equality. The book argues that Merkel often led “from behind,” indirectly facilitating claims-making instead of proactively pushing them. The Southern African Gender Protocol Alliance is a network of country and regional NGOs that campaigned for the Protocol, its updating, implementation and tracking. Originally aligned to the Millennium Development Goals that expired in 2015, SADC Gender Ministers updated the Protocol and aligned it to the Sustainable development Goals (SDGs), Beijing Plus Twenty and the Africa Agenda 2063 in 2016. In July 2017, the Ministers adopted a Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Framework (MERF) that will be the basis of future reporting. Now in its ninth edition, the 2017 Barometer is the first assessment of the Post-2015 SADC Gender Protocol. Moving with the times, the Alliance has expanded the two key main yardsticks in the Barometer: the SADC Gender and Development Index (SGDI) and the Citizen Score Card (CSC). The Barometer incorporates many MERF and SDG indicators, as well as its own unique measures of voice, choice and control. The Barometer also introduces the Gender Responsive Assessment of Constitutions and Laws conducted by Alliance experts and networks around the region. A wealth of data, insights and analysis awaits all readers of the Barometer, that will also be made available online and in multi-media formats. The “SADC we want” is one in which citizens engage; step it up for gender equality, and make sure we achieve Planet 50/50 by 2030!
