The interior has a similar aged appearance. Pages are light enough so writing is viewable, are lined, and have darker grunge style vignette around the edges. This journal makes an excellent tabletop Halloween decoration. Also makes a unique gift for goths, people who love horror movies, ghost stories, creepy pasta, etc. Can be used as an everyday notebook albeit with a lot of creep factor. 6X9 inch, 108 pages, lightly lined, matte (paper) softcover

Book The Digital Reading Condition

Download or read book The Digital Reading Condition written by Maria Engberg and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-12-30 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume offers a critical overview of digital reading practices and scholarly efforts to analyze and understand reading in the mediatized landscape. Building on research about digital reading, born-digital literature, and digital audiobooks, The Digital Reading Condition explores reading as part of a broader cultural shift encompassing many forms of media and genres. Bringing together research from media and literary studies, digital humanities, scholarship on reading and learning, as well as sensory studies and research on multimodal and multisensory media reception, the authors address and challenge print-biased conceptions of reading that are still prevalent in research, whether the reading medium is print or digital. They argue that the act of reading itself is changing, and rather than rejecting digital media as unsuitable for sustained or focused reading practices, they argue that the complex media landscape challenges us to rethink how to define reading as a mediated practice. Presenting a truly interdisciplinary perspective on digital reading practices, this volume will appeal to scholars and graduate students in communication, media studies, new media and technology, literature, digital humanities, literacy studies, composition, and rhetoric.

Book Conceptualising Immersive Journalism

Download or read book Conceptualising Immersive Journalism written by Ana Luisa Sánchez Laws and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-09-11 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the history of virtual reality and its introduction into journalism, exploring the challenges posed by pushing to make the experience of news a full body event. The problem of interpretation versus objectivity is discussed, as well as the associated ethical responsibilities. Immersive journalism offers the vicarious reliving of a news event with the full body through virtual reality technologies. As virtual reality devices become more accessible, major news organizations such as the New York Times, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, CNN, and many more are starting to experiment with this new form of journalism. This book discusses theoretical issues significant to immersive journalism’s goal of using virtual reality to transport audiences into a news site. These include ethical issues concerning image manipulation and the place of the audience’s body in the presentation of a news event. To approach these issues, the book presents foundational concepts of VR technologies that have helped establish the achievability of being virtually present in a simulated reality, as well as current research about immersive media’s manipulative potential. Using a case-based analysis of how immersive journalism clashes or coincides with the goals of journalism in democratic societies, the book examines the possibilities and ethics of such experiences in journalism and news. Original and intellectually provocative, Conceptualizing Immersive Journalism is an important study of this emerging field for students, scholars and researchers in the areas of Journalism and Media Studies.
