Book Concentrating Photovoltaics CPV The Path Ahead

Download or read book Concentrating Photovoltaics CPV The Path Ahead written by Harry Apostoleris and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-09-08 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a concise review of the current status and future prospects of concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) technology. Starting with a summary of the current technical and economic status of CPV technology, it identifies the factors that hold CPV back in the commercial market. The main technical areas considered are solar cells, tracking and optics. The solar cells section focuses on spectrum splitting systems, which offer potentially higher efficiency than multi-junction cells with reductions in the manufacturing constraints that lead to high costs. It also offers a brief survey of the latest developments in spectral splitting alongside a discussion of the advances in solar cell manufacturing that aid the development of such systems. Further, it examines electrical design principles for spectral splitting systems that can improve the spectral stability of these systems’ performance. The section on tracking includes a description of tracking integration with an update of the review published in Nature, presenting the latest advances in the field and focusing on surveying conceptual approaches rather than providing an exhaustive description of the literature. The optics section explores 3D printing and other emerging methods of fabricating optics for both prototype and large-scale production, as well as new classes of concentrators, particularly those based on novel photonic materials such as angular filters. Lastly, the authors consider the impact that environmental factors have on the performance of CPV in non-standard environments before concluding with a discussion of the combinations of technologies that they anticipate will most effectively boost CPV in the commercial market.

Book Attracting Sustainable Investment

Download or read book Attracting Sustainable Investment written by Saskia Vanderbent and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-12-30 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a practitioner’s guide to sustainable development, laying out strategies for attracting investment for communities and their partners. It proposes an innovative Sustainable Development Proposition (SDP) decision-making tool based on a propositional calculus that can be used to analyse the sustainability of an infrastructure investment. It draws on environmental sustainability governance data analysis enabling investors to understand the economic indicators, income potential, return on investment, demand and legal compliance, as well as community and social benefits. Identified risks, issues and advantages are managed and monitored, and the SDP guidance can be applied to improve the prospects of the project in order to attract investment. Sustainable Community Investment Indicators (SCIIsTM) have been developed to assist with attracting investment and monitoring feedback on infrastructure projects, designed by the author for remote rural and indigenous communities – in response to current industry tools that are designed for urban environments. The book includes a broad range of real-world and hypothetical case studies in agricultural and indigenous areas in South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and the Pacific. Taking a diverse economies approach, these industry tools can be adapted to allow for enterprise design with unique communities. This book provides sustainable development practitioners, including government agencies, financiers, developers, lawyers and engineers, with a positive, practical guide to addressing and overcoming global issues with local and community-based solutions and funding options.

Book Best Operations Maintenance O M Practices to be Adopted in Large Scale Grid Connected Ground Mounted Solar Photovoltaic Power Plants in India

Download or read book Best Operations Maintenance O M Practices to be Adopted in Large Scale Grid Connected Ground Mounted Solar Photovoltaic Power Plants in India written by Victor Bhattacharya and published by Book Bazooka Publication. This book was released on 2024-07-09 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For Indian producers of multi-megawatt grid-connected ground-mounted solar photovoltaic power plants, it is crucial to understand that adopting the best Operations and Maintenance (O&M) practices is essential for optimizing energy output. The renewable energy industry in India has matured, and solar PV plants have seen a significant increase in installations over the past decade. These plants have contributed to the country's energy mix, ranging from rooftops, off-grid, to large-scale ground-mounted grid-connected plants. After installation and commissioning, a solar power plant has a life cycle of 25 to 30 years, and the O&M team plays a vital role in maintaining the plant's operating standards and ensuring guaranteed generation output figures. To maintain the quality of activity execution standards, some of the best industrial practices should be followed across installed portfolios. The first step is to identify plant losses at equipment and transmission line levels through careful observation and data-based approaches. Key performance indicators can be used to identify the nature and quantum of loss, and specific test procedures can be adopted for root cause identification and permanent issue resolution. It is crucial to ensure the serial implementation of corrections across plants and record improvements systematically through periodic maintenance activities. Following these procedures, checklists, and guidelines will help the team achieve the target optimum generation of the solar power plant, leading to increased investor confidence, reduced energy crises, sustained energy sources for longer periods, increased employment opportunities, and contributing towards clean green energy development across the country.
