Download or read book Implantable Sensors and Systems written by Guang-Zhong Yang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-03-27 with total page 649 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Implantable sensing, whether used for transient or long-term monitoring of in vivo physiological, bio-electrical, bio-chemical and metabolic changes, is a rapidly advancing field of research and development. Underpinned by increasingly small, smart and energy efficient designs, they become an integral part of surgical prostheses or implants for both acute and chronic conditions, supporting optimised, context aware sensing, feedback, or stimulation with due consideration of system level impact. From sensor design, fabrication, on-node processing with application specific integrated circuits, to power optimisation, wireless data paths and security, this book provides a detailed explanation of both the theories and practical considerations of developing novel implantable sensors. Other topics covered by the book include sensor embodiment and flexible electronics, implantable optical sensors and power harvesting. Implantable Sensors and Systems – from Theory to Practice is an important reference for those working in the field of medical devices. The structure of the book is carefully prepared so that it can also be used as an introductory reference for those about to enter into this exciting research and developing field.

Book Self powered Energy Harvesting Systems for Health Supervising Applications

Download or read book Self powered Energy Harvesting Systems for Health Supervising Applications written by Albert Álvarez-Carulla and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-09-29 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights the current and recent state-of-the-art developments in energy harvesting systems for health supervising applications. It explores the exciting potential of energy harvesting as a crosscutting field of research to intersect with other areas to envisage new products, solutions, and applications. Among all these new opportunities for synergy, there is a research area that fully matches the features offered by energy harvesting with its power supply's main needs- health supervising (HS), which consists of monitoring the health or operating conditions of anything, such as structures, buildings, public health, environment, etc. The book covers the hand in hand evolution towards a new paradigm: truly self-powered devices based on a single transducer acting as a sensor and as power source simultaneously and efficiently. This evolution is illustrated by the concept and implementation of novel state-of-the-art architecture for self-powered energy harvesting systems for applications that range from structural health monitoring to point-of-care medical devices.

Book Fully Integrated Switched Capacitor PMU for IoT Nodes

Download or read book Fully Integrated Switched Capacitor PMU for IoT Nodes written by Ricardo Madeira and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-21 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a step-by-step methodology and system design that can be used to design a fully integrated PMU using SC DC-DC converters, for any CMOS technology. The authors discuss trade-offs between power density and efficiency of the methodology for the 130 nm CMOS technology, and how to implement it on other CMOS technologies. The book describes the state-of-the-art of fully or near-fully integrated SC DC-DC converters with multiple conversion ratios and the techniques used to enhance the overall performance of these converters. Coverage includes the trade-off between the number of conversion ratios and overall extracted efficiency from a supercapacitor, as well as the sizing of the converter cells according to the desired output power and maximum clock frequency. The authors also describe in detail the design of the fundamental blocks for the converter operation, which includes a secondary control loop using capacitance modulation by sensing the clock frequency.

Book Inkjet Configurable Gate Array

Download or read book Inkjet Configurable Gate Array written by Mohammad Mashayekhi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-12-29 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis reports on an outstanding research advance in the development of Application Specific Printed Electronic (ASPE) circuits. It proposes the novel Inkjet-Configurable Gate Array (IGA) concept as a design-manufacturing method for the direct mapping of digital functions on top of new prefabricated structures. The thesis begins by providing details on the generation of the IGA bulk, and subsequently presents Drop-on-Demand configurable methodologies for the metallization of IGAs. Lastly, it demonstrates IGAs’ suitability for personalization and yield improvement, and reports on the integration of various circuits into IGA bulk. In addition to highlighting novel results, the thesis also offers a comprehensive introduction to printed electronics, from technology development, to design methods, tools and kits.
