Book excerpt: Annotation IVNC, the International Vacuum Nanoelectronics Conference series, is devoted to nanoscience and technology of vacuum electron sources and their applications The conference aims to promote the understanding of physics, chemistry, electron emission and beam properties of nano emitters based on various electron emission mechanisms, as well as the materials, growth, and fabrication technologies of novel cathodes and vacuum electronic devices Established in 1988 by the founders of vacuum nanoelectronics, IVNC brings together an international body of scientists and engineers to present and discuss their latest researches in vacuum micro and nanoelectronics.

Book Research advances in nanosciences micro and nanotechnologies Vol IV

Download or read book Research advances in nanosciences micro and nanotechnologies Vol IV written by Eduardo San Martín Martínez and published by OmniaScience. This book was released on with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New challenges are coming for the National Polytechnic Institute, such as attending to nearshoring in Mexico, that is, the transfer of new factories from the country of origin to one close to the market, which will require research and training of new researchers in the field of semiconductors, for the manufacture of processors or CHIPS. Nanotechnology has and will have an important role in this task, which is why work on semiconductor materials and their applications in luminescence or photoluminescence, optoelectronics will move on to applications on semiconductor substrates and films aimed at manufacturing processors. IPN researchers should also not neglect their activities aimed at the problems of water, alternative energy, health, food, communications, and the environment, which are still current in terms of the need for improvement and development of new nanometric materials. Therefore, in this volume IV of advances in micro nanoscience and nanotechnology, the results of these investigations are presented and now include an area of materials and semiconductors seeking to develop part of processors.

Book Modern Diagnostic X Ray Sources

Download or read book Modern Diagnostic X Ray Sources written by Rolf Behling and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-04-19 with total page 583 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now fully updated, the second edition of Modern Diagnostic X-Ray Sources: Technology, Manufacturing, Reliability gives an up-to-date summary of X-ray source technology and design for applications in modern diagnostic medical imaging. It lays a sound groundwork for education and advanced training in the physics of X-ray production, X-ray interactions with matter, and imaging modalities and assesses their prospects. The book begins with a comprehensive and easy-to-read historical overview of X-ray tube and generator development, including key achievements leading up to the current technological and economic state of the field. The book covers the physics of X-ray generation, including the process of constructing X-ray source devices. The stand-alone chapters can be read in order or in selections. They take you inside diagnostic X-ray tubes, illustrating their design, functions, metrics for validation, and interfaces. The detailed descriptions enable objective comparison and benchmarking. This detailed presentation of X-ray tube creation and functions enables you to understand how to optimize tube efficiency, particularly with consideration for economics and environmental care. It also simplifies faultfinding. Along with covering the past and current state of the field, the book assesses the future regarding developing new X-ray sources that can enhance performance and yield greater benefits to the scientific community and to the public. After heading international R&D, marketing and advanced development for X-ray sources with Philips, and working in the X-ray industry for more than four decades, Rolf Behling retired in 2020 and is now the owner of the consulting firm XtraininX, Germany. He holds numerous patents and is continuously publishing, consulting and training.

Book Science and Application of Nanotubes

Download or read book Science and Application of Nanotubes written by D. Tománek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-17 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This series of books, which is published at the rate of about one per year, addresses fundamental problems in materials science. The contents cover a broad range of topics from small clusters of atoms to engineering materials and involve chemistry, physics, materials science, and engineering, with length scales ranging from Ångstroms up to millimeters. The emphasis is on basic science rather than on applications. Each book focuses on a single area of current interest and brings together leading experts to give an up-to-date discussion of their work and the work of others. Each article contains enough references that the interested reader can access the relevant literature. Thanks are given to the Center for Fundamental Materials Research at Michigan State University for supporting this series. M. F. Thorpe, Series Editor E-mail: thorpe@pa. msu. edu East Lansing, Michigan V PREFACE It is hard to believe that not quite ten years ago, namely in 1991, nanotubes of carbon were discovered by Sumio Iijima in deposits on the electrodes of the same carbon arc apparatus that was used to produce fullerenes such as the “buckyball”. Nanotubes of carbon or other materials, consisting ofhollow cylinders that are only a few nanometers in diameter, yet up to millimeters long, are amazing structures that self-assemble under extreme conditions. Their quasi-one-dimensional character and virtual absence of atomic defects give rise to a plethora of unusual phenomena.
