  • Author : James B. Kuo
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 1998-09-30
  • ISBN : 9780792382720
  • Pages : 816 pages

Download or read book CMOS VLSI Engineering written by James B. Kuo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1998-09-30 with total page 816 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) CMOS technology has been regarded as another major technology for VLSI in addition to bulk CMOS technology. Owing to the buried oxide structure, SOI technology offers superior CMOS devices with higher speed, high density, and reduced second order effects for deep-submicron low-voltage, low-power VLSI circuits applications. In addition to VLSI applications, and because of its outstanding properties, SOI technology has been used to realize communication circuits, microwave devices, BICMOS devices, and even fiber optics applications. CMOS VLSI Engineering: Silicon-On-Insulator addresses three key factors in engineering SOI CMOS VLSI - processing technology, device modelling, and circuit designs are all covered with their mutual interactions. Starting from the SOI CMOS processing technology and the SOI CMOS digital and analog circuits, behaviors of the SOI CMOS devices are presented, followed by a CAD program, ST-SPICE, which incorporates models for deep-submicron fully-depleted mesa-isolated SOI CMOS devices and special purpose SOI devices including polysilicon TFTs. CMOS VLSI Engineering: Silicon-On-Insulator is written for undergraduate senior students and first-year graduate students interested in CMOS VLSI. It will also be suitable for electrical engineering professionals interested in microelectronics.

Book Design Recommendations for Intelligent Tutoring Systems Volume 6 Team Tutoring

Download or read book Design Recommendations for Intelligent Tutoring Systems Volume 6 Team Tutoring written by Robert A. Sottilare and published by US Army Research Laboratory. This book was released on 2018-08-15 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book on team tutoring is the sixth in a planned series of books that examine key topics (e.g., learner modeling, instructional strategies, authoring, domain modeling, assessment, impact on learning, team tu-toring, machine learning for self-improving systems, potential standards, and learning effect evaluation methods) in intelligent tutoring system (ITS) design. This book focuses on team tutoring. The discussion chapters in this book examine topics through the lens of the Generalized Intelligent Framework for Tutoring (GIFT) (Sottilare, Brawner, Goldberg & Holden, 2012; Sottilare, Brawner, Sinatra, & Johnston, 2017). GIFT is a modular, service-oriented architecture created to reduce the cost and skill required to author ITSs, distribute ITSs, manage instruction within ITSs, and evaluate the effect of ITS technologies on learning, performance, retention, transfer of skills, and other instructional outcomes. Along with this volume, the first five books in this series, Learner Modeling (ISBN 978-0-9893923-0-3), Instructional Management (ISBN 978-0-9893923-2-7), Authoring Tools (ISBN 978-0-9893923-6-5), Domain Modeling (978-0-9893923-9-6) and Assessment Methods (ISBN 978-0-9977257-2-8) are freely avail-able at www.GIFTtutoring.org and on Google Play.

Book The Psychopathology of American Capitalism

Download or read book The Psychopathology of American Capitalism written by Thomas Paul Bonfiglio and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-06-08 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book synthesizes psychoanalytic and Marxist techniques in order to illuminate the resistance to a socialization of the American economy, the protectionist discourses of anomalous American capitalism, and the suppression of the capitalist welfare state. After the Second World War, Democrats and Republicans effectively eliminated the communist and socialist parties from the American political spectrum and suppressed their allied labor movements. The right-wing shift of both parties fabricated a false opposition of left and right that does not correspond to political oppositions in the industrialized democracies. Marxist perspectives can account for the massive inequality of the political economy, but they are insufficient for illuminating its preservation. Psychoanalysis is necessary in order to explain why Americans continue to vote within a two-party system that neglects the lower classes, and why the working class tends to vote against its own interests. The psychoanalytic techniques employed include doubling, repetition, displacement, condensation, inversion, denial, fetishizing, and cognitive repression. In examining the fixation upon the proxy binary of Democrat vs. Republican, which suppresses the true opposition of left vs. right and neutralizes alternatives, the work analyses numerous contemporary political issues through applications of Marxist psychoanalytic theory.
