Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When companies develop a new technology, do they ask how it might affect the people who will actually use it? That, more or less, sums up Brian David Johnson’s duties as Intel’s futurist-in-residence. In this fascinating book, Johnson provides a collection of science fiction prototyping stories that attempt to answer the question. These stories focus on the same theme: scientists and thinkers exploring personal robotics as a new form of artificial intelligence. This isn’t fanciful speculation. Johnson’s stories are based on Intel’s futurecasting research, which uses ethnographic field studies, technology research, trend data, and science fiction to develop a pragmatic vision of consumers and computing. 21st Century Robot presents science fiction designed to bring about science fact. Get real insight into technology and the future with this book. It will open your eyes.

It was first adopted by US Special Forces and airborne troops in 1962 before it was issued to Army and Marine units serving in Vietnam. Its use spread throughout the following decades and a number of variants including submachine and carbine versions were also fielded. As a result it is now amongst the three most used combat cartridges in the world while over 10 million M16s and variants have been produced making it one of the most successful American handheld weapons in history .But despite its undeniable success the M16 is not without its detractors. Indeed, the “black rifle”, as it is known, is one of the most controversial rifles ever introduced with a long history of design defects, ruggedness issues, cleaning difficulties and reliability problems leading to endless technical refinements. Download or read book US Combat Shotguns written by Leroy Thompson and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2013-08-20 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When a soldier must face multiple opponents at close quarters, few weapons can match the effectiveness of the shotgun. From World War I to the War on Terror, the shotgun has been a devastating weapon in the hands of US troops. For urban combat, prisoner control and shipboard operations, it remains as deadly today as it was a century ago. This book examines various types, from the early combat shotguns through to the riot gun and trench gun versions used in World War l. So effective was the trench shotgun, the Germans complained it violated the “Rules of War” as an inhumane weapon, and threatened to execute troops captured carrying one. More recently during the War on Terror, shotguns have been used to clear cave complexes in Afghanistan and buildings in Iraq, but especially to blow doors open during entries and searches. Featuring specially commissioned full-color artwork, this is the story of the origins, development and the use of the combat shotgun in US service, from the trenches of World War l, to the Korean and Vietnamese Wars and lately the cave complexes of Afghanistan.

Download or read book My Brother in Arms The Exceptional Life of Mark Andrew Forester United States Air Force Combat Controller written by Thad Forester and published by . This book was released on 2013-10-11 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On September 29, 2010 my brother, Mark Forester, was KIA while fighting terrorists in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan. His heroic legacy of being shot down while preparing to rescue a fallen teammate began long before this tragic day. An Apache aviator said of Mark's final battle: ...I have never witnessed such an act of heroism in my three years of fighting in combat. I have over 2,700 hours total time with 1,500 hours of combat time in both Iraq and Afghanistan...JAG 28 continued to advance on the enemy while taking intense enemy fire, and continuously fired his weapon in an attempt to get to his fallen teammate and destroy the enemy. Mark chose to enlist in the Air Force as a Special Operations Combat Controller after he received his Bachelor's degree from The University of Alabama. Because of his above average grades and near-photographic memory, his Business Finance degree would have done him well. But, he felt a higher calling; one that put him between us and the enemies bent on our destruction. Mark is the youngest of five children. He is my younger brother and I write from that viewpoint. We were the youngest in the family and he was my best friend. There are few things in life that I can speak of with total confidence and conviction-my little brother is one of them. Mark's military career was only a small part of his life, so this book doesn't highlight just the last three years of his 29 years on earth, but I've tried to capture his entire life. From his family environment, to his spiritual beliefs, to his trials, and then to his physical talents; these all prepared him to face his most vicious battles in one of the most violent areas of the world. Since his death, our eyes and hearts have been opened to multiple examples of selflessness and patriotism by meeting his teammates and leaders in the military. We have witnessed first-hand their ability to turn off their stern, professional personae and turn on compassion, love, support and acceptance. I feel a strong desire to Honor our Heroes. This book highlights one hero, SrA Mark A. Forester, and also helps recognize many other men and women who volunteer to fight for our freedom. My Brother in Arms is not a memorial in print, but a biography for continuing Mark's legacy of perseverance, determination and accomplishing our missions on earth. We each have different missions, but what's important is for each of us to recognize ours and work to accomplish it. In the end, don't we all want to go out while moving forward?
Download or read book The Fragile X Zombies written by Alan J. Weberman and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-05-08 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book puts forth the theory that autism is congenital brain disorder not a "neuro-developmental disorder." Autistic humans are the defectives of nature's factory and are not wired right. They should be institutionalized if they show violent tendencies because they lack empathy for other human beings as their illness makes them think only of themselves as in the word auto. Automobile. Self Moving. These misfits have taken more lives in the mass shootings than any other group and it is time for the public to do something about it. This book examines the most gregarious cases one by one and demonstrates that if not for the Politically Correct BS generated by Obama's Department of Miseducation and Autism Speaks, a lobby group for mass murder, a lot of these attacks could have been prevented. It is not worth sacrificing the lives of normal young people so a bunch of miscreants can be accepted by society. Autistic people should NOT be allowed to own guns nor should they have access to others guns. Look what happened to Nancy Lanza. She let Adam have access to guns and he killed dozens of little children after killing this mother varmint with a varmint gun.
Download or read book The Best Caliber Wars written by James M Volo and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2019-05 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Guns can be very effective tools, but they are each of limited utility. There is no one weapon that is perfect for every purpose. Private persons may own a number of guns that fulfill a variety of functions. Ballistics is important for soldiers, law enforcement, sportsmen, and anyone who seeks to protect their life, their home, their family, or their workplace. If you are among these, this book is for you.Not surprisingly, gun owners and firearms enthusiasts are often part of a "social gun culture" in which certain facts, trends, and fads circulate and evolve with time, some stirring intense loyalty among shooters even when the realities suggest otherwise. For the average gun user some very popular myths, misconceptions, and miscalculations concerning ballistics and the terminal effects of bullets are strongly held, and it is not the purpose of this discussion to demonstrate why they are or are not true, only to lay out the parameters of the debate so that the readers can make their own judgments with increased confidence. The origin of ballistics is in the study of the flight path of projectiles, but its domain has been expanded in modern times. Among the modern ballistic sciences are areas of interest concerning how ammunition and weapons operate.
