Book Network Data Mining And Analysis

Download or read book Network Data Mining And Analysis written by Gao Ming and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2018-09-27 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Online social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, offer millions of members the opportunity to befriend one another, send messages to each other, and post content on the site — actions which generate mind-boggling amounts of data every day.To make sense of the massive data from these sites, we resort to social media mining to answer questions like the following:Social media shatters the boundaries between the real world and the virtual world. We can now integrate social theories with computational methods to study how individuals interact with each other and how social communities form in bipartite and signed networks. The uniqueness of social media data calls for novel data mining techniques that can effectively handle user generated content with rich social relations. The study and development of these new techniques are under the purview of social media mining, an emerging discipline under the umbrella of data mining. Social Media Mining is the process of representing, analyzing, and extracting actionable patterns from social media data.

Book Lectures on Intelligent Systems

Download or read book Lectures on Intelligent Systems written by Leonardo Vanneschi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-13 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook provides the reader with an essential understanding of computational methods for intelligent systems. These are defined as systems that can solve problems autonomously, in particular problems where algorithmic solutions are inconceivable for humans or not practically executable by computers. Despite the rapidly growing applications in this field, the book avoids application details, instead focusing on computational methods that equip the reader with the methodological tools and competencies necessary to tackle current and future complex applications. The book consists of two parts: computational intelligence methods for optimization, and machine learning. Part I begins with the concept of optimization, and introduces local search algorithms, genetic algorithms, and particle swarm optimization. Part II begins with an introduction to machine learning and covers several methods, many of which can be used as supervised learning algorithms, such as decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, genetic programming, Bayesian learning, support vector machines, and ensemble methods, plus a discussion of unsupervised learning. This textbook is written in a self-contained style, suitable for undergraduate or graduate students in computer science and engineering, and for self-study by researchers and practitioners.

Book Machine Learning Methods with Noisy Incomplete or Small Datasets

Download or read book Machine Learning Methods with Noisy Incomplete or Small Datasets written by Jordi Solé-Casals and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-08-17 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past years, businesses have had to tackle the issues caused by numerous forces from political, technological and societal environment. The changes in the global market and increasing uncertainty require us to focus on disruptive innovations and to investigate this phenomenon from different perspectives. The benefits of innovations are related to lower costs, improved efficiency, reduced risk, and better response to the customers’ needs due to new products, services or processes. On the other hand, new business models expose various risks, such as cyber risks, operational risks, regulatory risks, and others. Therefore, we believe that the entrepreneurial behavior and global mindset of decision-makers significantly contribute to the development of innovations, which benefit by closing the prevailing gap between developed and developing countries. Thus, this Special Issue contributes to closing the research gap in the literature by providing a platform for a scientific debate on innovation, internationalization and entrepreneurship, which would facilitate improving the resilience of businesses to future disruptions. Book Privacy Preserving Data Publishing

Download or read book Privacy Preserving Data Publishing written by Raymond Chi-Wing Wong and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-05-31 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Privacy preservation has become a major issue in many data analysis applications. When a data set is released to other parties for data analysis, privacy-preserving techniques are often required to reduce the possibility of identifying sensitive information about individuals. For example, in medical data, sensitive information can be the fact that a particular patient suffers from HIV. In spatial data, sensitive information can be a specific location of an individual. In web surfing data, the information that a user browses certain websites may be considered sensitive. Consider a dataset containing some sensitive information is to be released to the public. In order to protect sensitive information, the simplest solution is not to disclose the information. However, this would be an overkill since it will hinder the process of data analysis over the data from which we can find interesting patterns. Moreover, in some applications, the data must be disclosed under the government regulations. Alternatively, the data owner can first modify the data such that the modified data can guarantee privacy and, at the same time, the modified data retains sufficient utility and can be released to other parties safely. This process is usually called as privacy-preserving data publishing. In this monograph, we study how the data owner can modify the data and how the modified data can preserve privacy and protect sensitive information.
