Book Computer Safety Reliability and Security

Download or read book Computer Safety Reliability and Security written by Bettina Buth and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-09-03 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer-based systems have become omnipresent commodities within our - vironment. While for a large variety of these systems such as transportation systems, nuclear or chemical plants, or medical systems their relation to safety is obvious, we often do not re?ect that others are as directly related to risks concerning harm done to persons or matter as, for example, elevator control or mobile phones. At least we are not aware of the risk in our daily use of them. Safecomp as a community and a conference series has accompanied this - velopment for 30 years up to Safecomp 2009, which was the 28th of the series. During this time the topics and methods as well as the community have und- gone changes. These changes re?ect the requirements of the above-mentioned ubiquitious presence of safety-related systems. Safecomp has always encouraged and will further encourage academia and industry to share and exchange their ideas and experiences. After 30 years, we as the organizers of Safecomp 2009, found it imperative to take stock: which methods found their way into the application areas; which new approaches need to be checked for their practical applicability. As di?erent application domains developed their own approaches over the previous decades, we tried to attract people with di?erent backgrounds for this conference. - though the years 2008 and 2009 were not easy with regard to the overall global economic situation, we succeeded with this goal.

Book Isochronous Wireless Network for Real time Communication in Industrial Automation

Download or read book Isochronous Wireless Network for Real time Communication in Industrial Automation written by Henning Trsek and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-02-26 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation proposes and investigates an isochronous wireless network for industrial control applications with guaranteed latencies and jitter. Based on a requirements analysis of real industrial applications and the characterisation of the wireless channel, the solution approach is developed. It consists of a TDMA-based medium access control, a dynamic resource allocation and the provision of a global time base for the wired and the wireless network. Due to the global time base, the solution approach allows a seamless and synchronous integration into existing wired Real-time Ethernet systems.

Book Robotic Systems for Handling and Assembly

Download or read book Robotic Systems for Handling and Assembly written by Daniel Schütz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-11-30 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although parallel robots are known to offer many advantages with respect to accuracy, dynamics, and stiffness, major breakthroughs in industrial applications have not yet taken place. This is due to a knowledge gap preventing fast and precise execution of industrial handling and assembly tasks. This book focuses on the design, modeling, and control of innovative parallel structures as well as the integration of novel machine elements. Special attention is paid to the integration of active components into lightweight links and passive joints. In addition, new control concepts are introduced to minimize structural vibrations. Although the optimization of robot systems itself allows a reduction of cycle times, these can be further decreased by improved path planning, robot programming, and automated assembly planning concepts described by 25 contributions within this book. The content of this volume is subdivided into four main parts dealing with Modeling and Design, System Implementation, Control and Programming as well as Adaptronics and Components. This book is aimed at researchers and postgraduates working in the field of parallel robots as well as practicing engineers dealing with industrial robot development and robotic applications.

Book Modeling and Analysis for Optimal Scheduling of Biodiesel Batch Plants

Download or read book Modeling and Analysis for Optimal Scheduling of Biodiesel Batch Plants written by Mohamad Fauzan Amir and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2011 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Generally, scheduling problems accompanying typical batch processes are vitally important to be solved for improving the plant productivity. In these respects, finding a good and feasible schedule or even an optimal result, by which costs and lead times can be reduced, is often a very complex and also a difficult task. Moreover, in large plants, the challenges come not only from the modeling ways that require systematic and structured approaches, but also from the exact strategies how the performance of the model can be analyzed. The goal of this research is to develop a comprehensive study on industrial-sized plants, with regard modeling and analysis of scheduling problems. Formalization of the required plant specifications, the modularly modeling ways which refer to the widely used batch standards, and also the strategies for tackling complexity, are the main contributions of this thesis. These studies will be carried out by using the Timed Net Condition/Event Systems (TNCES) model. Finally, the model is analyzed to synthesize an optimal control strategy for the investigated plants.
