Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A CHECKLIST OF NEW TESTAMENT COMMANDMENTS "As a long time television producer and host, I am required to consider hundreds of books each year for my daily Homekeepers program. No one has ever made the profound impact on my own life like Dr. Esther V. Shekher and her books, ALL THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, Volumes 1 and 2. The first time I looked through them, I realized that she has highlighted an important "truth", sorely needed in the church today. Volume 2 dissects the writings of the Apostle Paul spotlighting the blessings of obedience along with the consequences of disobedience. These books, uniquely formatted, are a refreshing rain in a desert of writings about earthly prosperity and "self" fulfillment. They offer a valuable Biblical resource whether used for personal benefit, a group setting or pulpit series." Arthelene Rippy CHRISTIAN TELEVISION NETWORK The Holy Bible emphasizes that blessings of God will overtake us only when we obey God's commandments. There is nothing more important than obeying the commandments of God and thereby receiving all the blessings of God! Some of the important topics covered in this divinely inspired book are: - How not to live in the futility of your mind - Salvation, the gift of God and not of your works - Take your stand against the devil's schemes - Supernatural occurrences during the rapture and second coming of Christ- be rapture ready - You are complete in Christ - Walk worthy of your calling - Jesus accepts you just as you are This practical book will definitely be a blessing to all those who read it, especially to those who long for a much deeper walk with the Lord.

Book God of Justice

    Book Details:
  • Author : David E. Leininger

  • Release : 2007
  • ISBN : 0788024620
  • Pages : 98 pages

Download or read book God of Justice written by David E. Leininger and published by CSS Publishing. This book was released on 2007 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the Ten Commandments such an integral part of today's "culture wars," it would seem to be a safe assumption that most people are familiar with what the commandments actually say. Yet many surveys indicate otherwise -- and even when people can name all of the commandments, they often misinterpret their meaning. For example: - "Do not take the Lord's name in vain" has nothing to do with avoiding getting one's mouth washed out with soap; - "Remember the sabbath day" is not about going to church; - "Honor your father and mother" is not a way to get recalcitrant kids to clean up their rooms; - and despite what most folks think, "You shall not commit adultery" is not primarily about sex! In God of Justice, David Leininger sets the record straight with a new look at this ancient document. He examines the commandments in the context of today's social, cultural, and political environment -- and he concludes that rather than the traditional view of them as ironclad laws, the commandments are actually God's policy statements about what is the bedrock of a good, decent, and just society. When properly understood, the commandments offer God's guidance in establishing a healthy way of life that is rewarding for everyone. With discussion questions included for each chapter, God of Justice is an excellent study resource for adult classes -- and clear and accessible reading that will be stimulating and rewarding for any thoughtful Christian. David E. Leininger is the pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Warren, Pennsylvania. He has also served congregations in North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Prior to entering the ministry, Leininger worked for almost twenty years in radio and television. He is the author of A Color-Blind Church and Lectionary Tales for the Pulpit (Series VI, Cycle A), and his sermons have appeared in the Best Sermons 4 anthology (Harper-Collins). Leininger has also been a contributing writer for the online services StoryShare and The Immediate Word (www.sermonsuite.com).

For example, the 4th Commandment-"Keep Holy the Sabbath" PENNSYLVANIA FRAME OF GOVERNMENT, April 25, 1682, Article XXII: "That as often as any day of the month...shall fall upon the first day of the week, commonly called the Lord's Day, the business appointed for that day shall be deferred till the next day, unless in the case of emergency." U.S. CONSTITUTION, 1787, Article I, Section 7, Paragraph 2 "If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law" Read how the Ten Commandments affected the views of America's leaders: "The Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount contain my religion" - John Adams, Nov. 4, 1816, letter to Thomas Jefferson. "The fundamental basis of this nation's laws was given to Moses on the Mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings we get from Exodus and St. Matthew, from Isaiah and St. Paul. I don't think we emphasize that enough these days." - Harry S Truman, Feb. 15, 1950, Attorney General's Conference. See references to the Ten Commandments in court cases: "The Ten Commandments have had an immeasurable effect on Anglo-American legal development" - U.S. District Court, Crockett v. Sorenson, W.D. Va. Book If You Love Me Keep My Commandments

Download or read book If You Love Me Keep My Commandments written by C. Orville McLeish and published by Hcp Book Publishing. This book was released on 2020-12-23 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus was asked in St. Matthew 22, "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?" He replied with two, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments." (St. Matthew 22:36-40). The Christian community celebrated that Jesus reduced 613 commandments found in the Old Testament to only two under the New Covenant. As I meditated on this, I realized that we were missing something, and while loving God, and loving people may seem straight-forward enough, it was not quite evident in the lifestyles of many Christians. While we get some part right, in other areas we were not doing so well. The Words of Jesus kept resonating in my soul, "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments." (St. John 14:15 - ESV). The part I think we missed is, "All the law and prophets hang..." I went on a personal retreat to revisit the New Testament and extract everything that would look like a command from Jesus. I numbered them as I went along, and was very surprised to see that when this journey ended, the number was 613 -- the exact number of commands given in the Old Testament. I knew then that this book had to be released.
