Download or read book Managing Supply Chain Risk and Vulnerability written by Teresa Wu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-08-20 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Managing Supply Chain Risk and Vulnerability, a book that both practitioners and students can use to better understand and manage supply chain risk, presents topics on decision making related to supply chain risk. Leading academic researchers, as well as practitioners, have contributed chapters focusing on developing an overall understanding of risk and its relationship to supply chain performance; investigating the relationship between response time and disruption impact; assessing and prioritizing risks; and assessing supply chain resilience. Supply chain managers will find Managing Supply Chain Risk and Vulnerability a useful tool box for methods they can employ to better mitigate and manage supply chain risk. On the academic side, the book can be used to teach senior undergraduate students, as well as graduate-level students. Additionally, researchers may use the text as a reference in the area of supply chain risk and vulnerability.

Book Mathematical Modelling and Computer Simulation of Activated Sludge Systems

Download or read book Mathematical Modelling and Computer Simulation of Activated Sludge Systems written by Jacek Makinia and published by IWA Publishing. This book was released on 2020-03-02 with total page 682 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematical Modelling and Computer Simulation of Activated Sludge Systems – Second Edition provides, from the process engineering perspective, a comprehensive and up-to-date overview regarding various aspects of the mechanistic (“white box”) modelling and simulation of advanced activated sludge systems performing biological nutrient removal. In the new edition of the book, a special focus is given to nitrogen removal and the latest developments in modelling the innovative nitrogen removal processes. Furthermore, a new section on micropollutant removal has been added. The focus of modelling has been shifting in the last years to models that can describe the performance of a whole plant (plant-wide modelling). The expanded part of this new edition introduces models describing the most important processes interrelated with the mainstream activated sludge systems as well as models describing the energy balance, operating costs and environmental impact. The complex process evaluation, including minimization of energy consumption and carbon footprint, is in line with the present and future wastewater treatment goals. By combining a general introduction and a textbook, this book serves both intermediate and more experienced model users, both researchers and practitioners, as a comprehensive guide to modelling and simulation studies. The book can be used as a supplemental material at graduate and post-graduate levels of wastewater engineering/modelling courses.

Book Process Oriented Analysis and Validation of Multi Agent Based Simulations

Download or read book Process Oriented Analysis and Validation of Multi Agent Based Simulations written by Nicolas Denz and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2014-12-31 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In multi-agent-based simulation (MABS) the behavior of individual actors is modeled in detail. The analysis and validation of these models is rated as difficult and requires support by innovative techniques and tools. Problems include model complexity, the amount and often qualitative representation of simulation results, and the typical dichotomy between microscopic modeling and macroscopic observation perspectives. In recent years, data mining has been increasingly applied as a support technique in this context. A particularly promising approach is found in the field of process mining. Due to its rooting in business process analysis, process mining shares several process- and organization-oriented analysis perspectives and use cases with agent-based modeling. This thesis proposes a conceptual framework for the systematic application of process mining to the analysis and validation of MABS. As a foundation, agent-oriented analysis perspectives and simulation-specific use cases are identified and complemented with methods, techniques, and results from the literature. A partial formalization of perspectives and use cases is sketched by utilizing concepts from process modeling and software engineering. Beyond the conceptual work, process mining is applied in two case studies related to different modeling and simulation approaches.

Book Proceedings of the 1998 International Conference on Web Based Modeling Simulation

Download or read book Proceedings of the 1998 International Conference on Web Based Modeling Simulation written by Paul A. Fishwick and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this proceedings is to focus on problems & perspectives of the World Wide Web as a tool for modeling & simulation. Web-based simulation represents a convergence of computer simulation methodologies & applications within the World Wide Web. There are many possible bridge areas between the Web & the simulation field. Web-based simulation does not mean only "distributed simulation" or "simulation documentation." The introduction & wide-spread use of the Web suggests that there are many areas where Web science & technology will meet simulation to provide impetus to both fields. This proceedings offers a sampling of some of the recent simulation projects placed into the framework of the Web. This first edition contains papers from government agencies, industry, & academia proposing simulation applications, tools, & methodologies, including a strong connection with the current Web, or a connection with the future state of the Web.
