Book California Law Enforcement Training in the 1990 s

Download or read book California Law Enforcement Training in the 1990 s written by Assembly Concurrent Resolution 58 Study Committee (Calif.) and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report, written for the California State Legislature in response to Assembly Concurrent Resolution (ACR) 58, provides information about the current state of law enforcement training and what is possible in the immediate future. The California Legislature adopted ACR 58 as an expression of concern that California's citizens need the highest achievable level of law enforcement services and that law enforcement officers deserve the best possible preparation to perform their jobs. Twin concerns of the legislature are that adequate training facilities are not available and that law enforcement training may be greatly enhanced by the application of technology-based training methods. The ACR 58 Study Committee surveyed and evaluated many technological applications and found that computer-based training, distance learning programs using optical fibers and satellites, simulation programs, and expert systems have high potential for improving law enforcement training. The committee also determined that skill development centers are needed for law enforcement training statewide as well as advanced technology classrooms, leadership development programs, and a learning technology laboratory. The committee recommends that the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training be responsible for providing learning technology and systems expertise, developing a law enforcement training facility needs assessment, and conducting prototype and demonstration projects. Appendixes contain a glossary of terms, survey questionnaire results, skill training activities, and a training effectiveness model.

Book Education Skills and International Cooperation

Download or read book Education Skills and International Cooperation written by Kenneth King and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-15 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights some of Kenneth King’s diverse contributions to international and comparative education, African studies and development studies over more than four decades. From his pioneering work on the first educational commissions to Africa, through his research on skills training in the informal sector, and on to his critical analysis of education analysis in development agencies, this book makes influential materials available in one place. Appropriately, it illustrates his career-long connections with Kenya, but also his more recent engagement with Japan, China and India. It is the first CERC volume to pay significant attention to the policies and politics of skills development. Kenneth King is an Emeritus Professor of the University of Edinburgh. He was based in and directed its Centre of African Studies for many years, and lectured on international perspectives in education and training in its School of Education. His research interests have addressed the politics and planning of skills development, including in the informal sector of the economy, aid policies towards education of both Western and Asian donors, and higher education cooperation. He founded NORRAG, the network for international policies and cooperation in education and training, in 1986, and edited NORRAG News until 2016. He was President of the British Association for International and Comparative Education (BAICE) from 2014-2016, and was one of the founding members of the UK Forum on International Education and Training (UKFIET).
