Download or read book Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence written by Andre Ponce de Leon F. de Carvalho and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-11-18 with total page 707 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Symposium on Distributed Computing and Artificial Intel- gence (DCAI ́10) is an annual forum that brings together past experience, current work and promising future trends associated with distributed computing, artificial intelligence and their application to provide efficient solutions to real problems. This symposium is organized by the Biomedicine, Intelligent System and Edu- tional Technology Research Group (http://bisite. usal. es/) of the University of - lamanca. The present edition has been held at the Polytechnic University of - lencia, from 7 to 10 September 2010, within the Congreso Español de Informática (CEDI 2010). Technology transfer in this field is still a challenge, with a large gap between academic research and industrial products. This edition of DCAI aims at contributing to reduce this gap, with a stimulating and productive forum where these communities can work towards future cooperation with social and econo- cal benefits. This conference is the forum in which to present application of in- vative techniques to complex problems. Artificial intelligence is changing our - ciety. Its application in distributed environments, such as internet, electronic commerce, environment monitoring, mobile communications, wireless devices, distributed computing, to cite some, is continuously increasing, becoming an e- ment of high added value with social and economic potential, both industry, life quality and research. These technologies are changing constantly as a result of the large research and technical effort being undertaken in universities, companies.

Book Euro Par 2008 Workshops Parallel Processing

Download or read book Euro Par 2008 Workshops Parallel Processing written by Eduardo César and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-04-09 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Parallel and distributed processing, although within the focus of computer science research for a long time, is gaining more and more importance in a wide spectrum of applications. These proceedings aim to demonstrate the use of parallel and distributed processing concepts in different application fields, and attempt to spark interest in novel research directions to parallel and high-performance computing research in general. The objective of these workshops is to specifically address researchers coming from university, industry and governmental research organizations and application-oriented companies in order to close the gap between purely scientific research and the applicab- ity of the research ideas to real-life problems. Euro-Par is an annual series of international conferences dedicated to the pro- tion and advancement of all aspects of parallel and distributed computing. The 2008 event was the 14th issue of the conference. Euro-Par has for a long time been eager to attract colocated events sharing the same goal of promoting the dev- opment of parallel and distributed computing, both as an industrial technique and an academic discipline, extending the frontier of both the state of the art and the state of the practice. Since 2006, Euro-Par has been offering researchers the chance to co- cate advanced technical workshops back-to-back with the main conference.

Book Fast and Accurate Finite Element Multigrid Solvers for PDE Simulations on GPU Clusters

Download or read book Fast and Accurate Finite Element Multigrid Solvers for PDE Simulations on GPU Clusters written by Dominik Göddeke and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2011 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation demonstrates that graphics processors (GPUs) as representatives of emerging many-core architectures are very well-suited for the fast and accurate solution of large, sparse linear systems of equations, using parallel multigrid methods on heterogeneous compute clusters. Such systems arise for instance in the discretisation of (elliptic) partial differential equations with finite elements. Fine-granular parallelisation techniques and methods to ensure accuracy are developed that enable at least one order of magnitude speedup over highly-tuned conventional CPU implementations, without sacrificing neither accuracy nor functionality.

Book Security for Cloud Computing

Download or read book Security for Cloud Computing written by Flavio Lombardi and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2015 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensive resource presents a highly informative overview of cloud computing security issues. This book focuses on relevant approaches aimed at monitoring and protecting computation and data hosted on heterogeneous computing resources. The most critical security aspects are thoroughly discussed, highlighting the importance of reliable secure computation over remote heterogeneous cloud nodes. This book shows that present cloud computing is inherently insecure therefore advanced execution models have to be developed to prevent unauthorized users from accessing or affecting others' data and computation. The cloud approach enables on-demand scalable services that allow performing large computations without the costs and maintenance/management issues of costly server farms (thus enabling a novel kind of outsourced computing). Essential reading for software and computer engineers as well as data architects and IT professionals to better understand the complexity and heterogeneity of modern cloud- based scenarios.
