Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every culture has its own mythology - a set of stories that involve heroic characters, mythical beasts, gods, advanced technology, and fantastic locations. While their validity is questionable, their existence shows the incredible fascination that we, as humans, have for these stories. Indian mythology contains a vast and ancient array of tales, which are stimulating, entertaining, and have a moral lesson behind them. What Do Children Learn from Mythology?Mythology teaches moral values to children in a way that holds their interest. Here are some things that children imbibe from mythology.1. Iterates Good vs EvilMythology teaches children the difference between good and evil, iterating, each time, the importance of good deeds. It also proves that good always conquers evil.2. Encourages ImaginationMythology is a world of its own, with advanced technology, mystic beings, and breath-taking imagery. This sets the minds of children running, as they imagine each thing they are told about. It also shows them that nothing is impossible, if you have a creative mind.3. Exposes Kids to CultureChildren learn the importance and meaning of festivals and customs that are frequently seen in Indian culture. Mythology teaches them why things are the way they are, satisfying their curiosity and engaging their minds.4. Teaches RespectRespect goes hand in hand with discipline. Mythology teaches kids to respect their elders, teachers, and peers. This leads to better discipline in children.5. Showcases the Power of LoveWhether it is love for family, teachers, God, Mythology teaches kids that love conquers all, and there's nothing greater than staying true to the people you love, against all odds.

Download or read book Incredible Sacrifice written by Saurabh Singh and published by . This book was released on 2018-11-07 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome to the world of Indian Mythology. This is my first book which compromises of 2 short stories re-imagined from Indian mythology. The first story speaks of the sacrifice of the King Shibi and the other one, the sacrifice of King Bali. Both the kings were from the scion of demons, but very generous and righteous. Story -IThe king Shibi faces the dilemma of choosing himself over an injured dove, trying to escape a falcon.Story -IIThe great king Bali faces a situation where he needs to choose amongst himself or the underworld for the Asuras. There is a message which both the story shares and the reader would find it interesting to explore how our two kings behave in two different situations. Since my childhood, I have been fascinated with the stories which my grandfather used to narrate to me. Being an author, I have tried to keep the basic jest of the story as it is, while adding a little imagination from my side.I hope, this blend of moral and the re-imagination from my side would add a great flavor in making the story a good read.I am a full time IT professional, who has a taste for literature. Though not a professional when it comes to writing, still, I love writing and expressing my raw thoughts positively and effectively.Would request you to give this one a try and do share an honest review. It will help me grow as an author. You may write to me @ [email protected] and God Bless

Book excerpt: Discover the Ramayana - one of India's most celebrated epics, and a story that transcends time itself. The tale of Rama, the exiled prince of Ayodhya who battles the evil Ravana, the king of Lanka, and rescues his abducted wife, Sita, is about much more than the eternal battle of good versus evil. It is a tale of love, friendship, loyalty, devotion, righteousness, and deliverance. Ramayana and Rama, whose journey is told in the epic, are embedded in India's cultural consciousness, but at the same time they transcend borders. Various versions of the Ramayana can be found across the Indian subcontinent and in parts of southeast Asia. Created in consultation with distinguished economist, scholar, and translator, Dr Bibek Debroy, The Illustrated Ramayana draws from one of its earliest composers, the celebrated sage and poet Valmiki. It uses a combination of text and stunning images drawn from a variety of sources - from historic and contemporary artefacts, paintings, photographs, and performances - to tell Rama's story, as he walks the path that destiny creates for him.

Book excerpt: An exploration of 99 classic myths of India from an entirely non-Western paradigm that provides a fresh understanding of the Hindu spiritual landscape • Compares and contrasts Indian mythology with the stories of the Bible, ancient Egypt, Greece, Scandinavia, and Mesopotamia • Looks at the evolution of Indian narratives and their interpretations over the millennia • Demonstrates how the mythology, rituals, and art of ancient India are still vibrant today and inform the contemporary generation From the blood-letting Kali to the mysterious Ganesha, the Hindu spiritual landscape is populated by characters that find no parallel in the Western spiritual world. Indian Mythology explores the rich tapestry of these characters within 99 classic myths, showing that the mythological world of India can be best understood when we move away from a Western, monotheistic mindset and into the polytheistic world of Hindu traditions. Featuring 48 artistic renderings of important mythological figures from across India, the author unlocks the mysteries of the narratives, rituals, and artwork of ancient India to reveal the tension between world-affirming and world-rejecting ideas, between conformism and contradiction, between Shiva and Vishnu, Krishna and Rama, Gauri and Kali. This groundbreaking book opens the door to the unknown and exotic, providing a glimpse into the rich mythic tradition that has empowered millions of human beings for centuries.
