Book 101 Life Lessons According to Dad

Download or read book 101 Life Lessons According to Dad written by H. Thorp Minister III and published by Mira Digital Publishing. This book was released on 2017-08-28 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As most divorced couples know -- with kids in the mix -- it is very difficult to have a positive influence on a child particularly when dad lives out of state -- far removed from the rigors of the day to day challenges of raising a child. My original plan was to write one life lesson each week and mail it to my daughter for her to read, study and keep for future reference. Sort of like homework with dad yet still be educational and fun in the process. I wrote my first Life Lesson on June 28, 2011. After many revisions, the book was completed a year later. At the time, I would hand write the Life Lesson on a legal sized piece of paper and photocopy it at the local Post Net store and send the original to my daughter Kelsey in Seattle. I kept the photocopy. After dozens of trips, the young woman working behind the counter, Kate Krutilova, says "You know Thorp, you need to write a book!" I thought about it for a moment and realized she was absolutely right! I finally reached my goal of 100 Life Lessons... Three weeks later another one popped into my head at 3am in the morning... So I ended up with 101! The funny thing about reading this book is that there is no rhyme or reason as to the order in which each Life Lesson is written. It's just what came to me at the time. (That is the great thing about having ADD.) Special thanks to Dr. Victoria Ibric at the Neurofeedback & NeuroRehab Institute in Pasadena, CA. I hope you will find this book entertaining, heart-warming and full of really good tips. Buy one for yourself... Better yet, buy two and give it to someone you care about. Thanks for your support! Enjoy!

Book excerpt: "When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years," Mark Twain is rumored to have quipped. In "Dad Was Right" Brian David Floyd explores this common sentiment teenage sons often have towards their fathers, and the change of heart that comes once they too enter adult hood.In ten short chapters, Floyd conveys key life lessons his father taught him through funny and touching stories he recalls from his teenage years. Such lessons include the fact that hard work is a part of life...someday you'll actually need what they're teaching in school...why you must be smart when you have to fight....never being afraid to ask the prettiest girl to dance...and of course the importance of calling your grandmother. "Dad Was Right" is full of the wisdom fathers pass on to their sons, though it's often initially rejected. But ironically, it is these lessons sons will cleave to as they become adults and seek to pass on their children as well.

The Baronesses, Emma and Natasha Von Lekton did not travel traditionally by car, or airplane, or train, or by bus. Instead, they are transported along with the magnificent castle where they reside to a location in the world where they are needed most. Baroness Emma Von Lekton is a very kind, innocent and compassionate teacher. Her lessons are meant for the students who are children. Her twin sister, Baroness Natasha Von Lekton, is very mischievous. She likes to play pranks on her sister and her students. Fortunately, the students she teaches are adults. There are some secrets that the Baronesses withhold until the end of the story, and some, they withhold until the next lessons. The students that needed the Baronesses help this time are a father and his son. The father's name is Nicholas Botticelli, and his son name is Vinnie. Nicholas and Vinnie live in a small town in Connecticut called Beacon Falls. Connecticut is one of fifty states in the United States. The lessons that the Baronesses teach are not taught from a book, but rather they are taught through magical adventures that their students must take. The lessons that the Baronesses teach are wholesome with benefits for all readers. This book is meant for older children, teens, and young adults. However, those adult readers who like to read fantasies about magical adventures will find this series a delight.

Download or read book Inherently Fallible written by Shawn Janes and published by . This book was released on 2021-05-18 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "We've talked about this." There is a maddening truth that only parents know about the unsolicited advice we offer our children. No matter how many golden nuggets of wisdom you give them along the way, it seems to mystically pass through one ear and out the other, lost in their internal hard drive and often followed by the infamous eye roll. That is, of course, until they get the same advice from someone else. It could be a friend, teacher, relative, boss, whomever, and it's as if they have never heard it before. That thing you may have said a thousand times is now their new religion because of an experience they had or something they heard from another person. That was the catalyst for this book: creating a tangible reference of life lessons for my children, a culmination of the things I have shared (or wanted to share) while preventing someone else from stealing my glory.
