Book 100 Ways to Increase Church Finance

Download or read book 100 Ways to Increase Church Finance written by Albert O. Aina and published by . This book was released on 2018-05-13 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have been in Christian leadership since 1982. It has been my discovery that almost every church has a plan and a need to raise money to finance projects for God's work. But research has shown that 85% of Pastors feel they have not been taught or empowered to teach principles of biblical stewardship, prosperity and finance. It was also discovered that 90 percent of churches have no programme to teach stewardship principles. This is the first reason why I wrote this book to provide information about stewardship in the local church. My consulting experience with church leaders and pastors for about two decades, across 105 denominations and hundreds of churches, has revealed one major challenge of churches today: how to transform their people unto faithful, committed witnesses and givers. One week after my ninth book: 100 WAYS TO INCREASE CHURCH ATTENDANCE, was released, I met a General Overseer who has read the 100 chapters in the book. He urged me to show the church world "HOW TO INCREASE CHURCH FINANCE". The calls increased both from outside and inside for this book. Lara and I took up the idea to the LORD in prayers in a two day retreat, end of February 2008. God gave us a release and commission to write. This is the second reason why I wrote this book: to be a resource of tested and tried stewardship and church finance material. When we pioneered our first church in 1995, our mother church gave us only prayer, but no silver and gold. I believe if our mother church had enough to spare they would have given us something with which to start. Infact, our mother church requested for 100% of our tithes and offerings for the initial four years, because the church was building her new sanctuary at that time. I have seen many small congregations struggle to avoid having to close their doors. Some are tenants for over twenty years, with no building plans in sight. To many full time, salaried pastors and their families, ministry has become a misery in the face of finances. As indicated in my book: 100 WAYS TO INCREASE CHURCH ATTENDANCE, 87% of churches in Nigeria are below 200 in attendance. This percentage will definitely be higher in other countries, who are not experiencing the level of revival currently happening in Nigerian church world. Many of the larger churches have had to scale back programmes and suspend plans for expansion for the same reason of finance. This is the third reason for writing this book: to help meet the needs of growing a church in financial matters.Giving is a sign of Christian life, a vital sign for that matter. Why do I say this? There are over 2,300 references to money and possessions in the Bible. At the same time, prayer is only mentioned 500 times, in the entire scriptures. Yet, prayer is the very oxygen by which the soul breaths. Ironically, studies have revealed that about 35% of pastors don't preach about giving or tithing. 90% of churches have no programme to teach stewardship principles or Bible Economics. This is the fourth reason for writing this book: to provide a strategic plan of stewardship and giving emphasis for the local church.Giving to churches, overall, is decreasing. The per capital giving in churches are going down rapidly. Researches have shown that "only I or 2 out of 10 Christians are giving 10 percent of their income to the Lord's work." The average annual amount of money donated to churches per person is declining. Many factors account for this. These factors are treated comprehensively in this book. Pastors who wonder why this is so should realize that the ways in which today's new generation of believers give is far different from the way the older generations give. There are many other churches and Para church ministries competing for the limited purse of contributors. This is the fifth reason why I wrote this book, to assist the pastors in developing a giving environment and to expand the giving base of the church.

Book Removing the Heat From Your Family Finances

Download or read book Removing the Heat From Your Family Finances written by Lara A Aina and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2023-08-31 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is not the first book that Lara and I will collaborate to write. Both of us collaborated to put together the other fourteen books that bear my name. in fact, Lara has always provided the fuse in my spark for each of the best sellers. But this eleventh book is not like any other we have written in the last seven years for one reason; it is the first time a book is carrying our two names as co-authors. The plot for this book started with Lara. It dated back to our courtship days. The first personal matter I opened up to her in our two years of courtship was the issue of finance. I was deep in debt and needed help fast. Lara was a final year Mathematics student at University of Ilorin. Silver or gold, she had none. What she had to give me was her counsel. She respectfully urged me to agree with her on three guidelines, which we will share later. I obliged. I paid off the debt the same year. We got married two years later. Over a decade has passed, our family is not owing anyone, either living or dead. This is the first reason why we wrote this book. We are involved in the matter. This book should have been written about ten months earlier, according to our plan. In fact, both of us went on a family retreat in February 2008 at Canaan Land, Otta, Nigeria. On our agenda for the retreat was the writing of this book "REMOVING THE HEAT FROM YOUR FAMILY FINANCE". But as God would have it - we received a divine marching order to write a different book, altogether. God instructed us to write on 100 WAYS TO INCREASE CHURCH FINANCE. The impact and enthusiasm that greeted the release of the books, six months later, showed we heard from God. The book and its earlier companion 100 WAYS TO INCREASE CHURCH ATTENDANCE, (Which sold out within 6 weeks of publication) became reference books in seminaries and Pastors' conferences. We received orders from all over Nigeria, Ghana and London. It was not until November 2008, that we received the direction to write the book you are holding in your hands. That is the second reason why we wrote the book - divine commission. God called me (Albert) into the ministry in September 1994. He instructed, and gave me three mandates. He gave the mandate to empower the business people. Financial liberation is at the forefront of my mandate. Lara and I have carried this Financial Liberation mandate round the country. The impact has reverberated outside the shores of Nigeria. This mandate has taken us to University campuses as well as over 1,000 churches across the 120 denominations and corporate outfits. I have been involved in Christian leadership since my teenage years on campus, dating back to 1982. But the most engaging times have been when we started pastoring in 1995. Family finance has been a recurring issue we have handled in many of our counseling sessions, particularly with young couples, in our pastorates. Pastors from other churches refer complex financial cases to us on topics like Debt Recovery, Investment, Starting Business, Writing A Will, Estate Planning, Joint Purse, Financial Planning etc. We could not proffer solutions to all of the financial related family conflicts that came up, especially in our earlier years of ministry. This book is a partial response to some of the nagging questions on the lips of most couples. That is the fifth reason why we wrote this book. It is true that money conflicts account for 58 percent of problems that couples face. However, from our empirical research and practical experiences as pastors, we have discovered that money problems do not stand-alone. It has associates, and kindred. Lack of communication is at the root of most money conflicts at home.

Book Communicating for a Change

Download or read book Communicating for a Change written by Andy Stanley and published by Multnomah. This book was released on 2008-08-19 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When You Talk, Are People Changed? Whether you speak from the pulpit, podium, or the front of a classroom, you don’t need much more than blank stares and faraway looks to tell you you’re not connecting. Take heart before your audience takes leave! You can convey your message in the powerful, life-changing way it deserves to be told. An insightful, entertaining parable that’s an excellent guide for any speaker, Communicating for a Change takes a simple approach to delivering effectively. Join Pastor Ray as he discovers that the secrets to successful speaking are parallel to the lessons a trucker learns on the road. By knowing your destination before you leave (identifying the one basic premise of your message), using your blinkers (making transitions obvious), and implementing five other practical points, you’ll drive your message home every time! “Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away…” “Once upon a time…” “In the beginning…” Great stories capture and hold an audience’s attention from start to finish. Why should it be any different when you stand up to speak? In Communicating for a Change, Andy Stanley and Lane Jones offer a unique strategy for communicators seeking to deliver captivating and practical messages. In this highly creative presentation, the authors unpack seven concepts that will empower you to engage and impact your audience in a way that leaves them wanting more. “Whether you are a senior pastor with weekly teaching responsibilities or a student pastor who has bern charged with engaging the hearts and minds of high school students, this book is a must-read.” -Bill Hybels, Senior pastor, Willow Creak Community Church “A very practical resource for every biblical communicator who wants to go from good to great.” -Ed Young, Senior pastor, Fellowship Church, Grapevine, Texas “To communicate effectively, you have to connect. Andy has been connecting with people for years, and now he’s sharing his insights with the rest of us.” -Jeff Foxworthy, Comedian Story Behind the Book Andy Stanley and Lane Jones are on staff at one of America ’s largest churches, North Point Community. Leaders of thousands of people, they regularly speak in front of large groups. They also listen to numerous speakers and know the disastrous effects of a poorly delivered message. This book is the result of their efforts to make public speaking—one of the most common fear-inducing activities known to mankind—simple, easy, and even enjoyable, so that God’s messages will readily produce the life-changing results they should.

Book excerpt: There is a secret formula to help convince parishioners to give financially to your church. It’s pretty simple: Just ask them. And when you do, make sure it’s not about the money. In ChurchMoney, Rev. Michael White and Tom Corcoran—award-winning authors of the bestselling book Rebuilt—will help you learn the basic skills you need to discover that true success in raising funds comes from the incredibly freeing approach that connects giving to discipleship. The two share stories of success and failure during their twenty years leading the Church of the Nativity in Timonium, Maryland. They tell you what they learned to meet the real financial challenges of their mission. And they offer the practical wisdom and inspiration you need to tackle the thorny matter of raising money in your Catholic parish. So if giving isn’t about the money, what is it about? Giving is about: loving God and serving him; loving others and helping them fall in love with their Savior; transforming the world little by little through love; and the eternal impact we can and need to make with money. White and Corcoran contend that giving actually glorifies God and attracts others to the Church. Over and over again in scripture, they point out, you’ll find the same, simple point: Giving gladly serves as a key ingredient to the Church’s growth from its very beginning. White and Corcoran share the lessons, facts, habits, and great ideas they’ve implemented from some of the most successful and vibrant churches in the United States. ChurchMoney offers a proven plan for raising money in parishes. It’s readily adaptable, firmly rooted in the reality of leading a Catholic parish, based on the Bible, and finessed with the best advice of communication professionals. You will read stories of embarrassing failure and exhilarating success in tripling a budget and running three extraordinarily successful capital campaigns over a ten-year period including a recent campaign leading to the construction of $16 million sanctuary built debt-free. White and Corcoran have increased staff fourfold and significantly raised salaries and increased staff benefits while expanding mission outreach both locally and internationally.

Book Breaking Church Growth And Financial Barriers

Download or read book Breaking Church Growth And Financial Barriers written by Albert O. Aina and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-05-19 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A pastor once asked the question, in one of George Barna's church surveys, "How can we grow the church when God's people are giving less of their money for the work of the church." Dwindling church finance has put a brake on the drive of pastors and congregation for church growth and expansion. The purse drives the pulse for church growth. The per capital giving in churches is going down rapidly. Currently, less than three percent of Christians are paying their tithes. Salary cuts and jobs losses have worsened the financial fortunes of most churches. The first casualty of dwindling church finances is usually outreach. This majorly account for the reason why 87 percent of churches across the world are under 200 in attendance. The church purse often determines the pulse for church growth. After more than twenty years of practical experience as church growth consultant and as senior pastor of small, medium and large churches, overseeing and training hundreds of pastors, I have come to discover a powerful truth: If we are to help a pastor to break church numerical growth barriers, we need to show him how to break church financial growth barriers. Unlike no other book I have read on the subject, this book will show practical things the pastor must start doing and the things he must stop doing, if he must see the next level of growth. A personal experience will help the reader to understand the basis of this book treatise. Our first parish was oscillating between 350 and 450, four years after my wife and I started pastoring. We were on this level for about four years, until we knew what to do. Some of the things we discovered are contained in this book. We put those strategies to work and God gave the increase. Our church attendance went up by 49 percent, from 400 to 620, in 60 days! It did not stop there. When we got to our second parish and we applied the same principles, our church attendance and retention rate in four years went up by 800 percent. In fact, we retained 900 new comers over a four year period. Size barriers are not hard objects to be broken, but a hill to be climbed. To take a church to the next size level, a pastor requires at least ten sets of skills and essential conditions. These sets of skills are properly treated with practical illustrations in this book. It is often assumed that church size determines church purse. Church leaders often postulate that the fish will bring the coin. Practical experience often bursts this assertion. The coins that many fish bring in most churches, don't add up to pay the bills. Why do we have small and middle-sized churches controlling fatter purses than "large, mega" churches? Why do 80 percent of pastors live below poverty line? Why do 90 percent of pastors complain of low income? We outline 20 financial barriers that are peculiar to churches of various sizes. There are seven attributes that potential donors search for in deciding the viability of their investment in the church. Ten reasons account for why people will not give to any church of any size. There are new cash and unexpected income that need to enter the church purse if financial levels of the church must change. As a church grows bigger, stewardship mindset needs to grow deeper, if financial barriers will not arise. You will locate all these concepts and more in this book. You don't have to be big to do things right. But you need to do things right and keep doing the right things, if you want to be big. At the end of this book, you will discover that success is more than numbers. I will be interested to discuss further with you. Our organization, Christian Leadership Skills, provides courses, seminars and conferences on several matters of church growth, church finances and financial empowerment in churches and conventions.
